Thomas Tuchel to take over Arsenal
Huge news has broken out of Germany on Sunday.
According to Kicker, former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is set to get the Arsenal job.
Tuchel’s links to Arsenal come on the back of widespread reports in the German media that Tuchel turned down the chance to take over at Bayern Munich.
But, according to Bild, when Bayern tried to line up Tuchel as a replacement this summer, the former BVB coach said ‘no’. Reportedly talks between Tuchel and Bayern where held last week.
Why did he reject the Bavarians? Because Tuchel harbours hopes of managing a top team in Europe, said Bild.
And now Kicker are claiming he’s off to Arsenal.
Thomas Tuchel to get the Arsenal job
Kicker are definite in their update: Tuchel “will inherit Arsenal from Arsene Wenger”.
Tuchel is due to team up with Sven Mislintat at the Emirates Stadium, after they previously worked together at Borussia Dortmund.
Indeed, Mislintat and Tuchel reportedly had disagreements at BVB, but the pair have already agreed to put those differences behind them at Arsenal.
Of course, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both used to play for Dortmund too.
When is Wenger off?
That huge question is left unanswered by Kicker, although the tone in the report suggests Tuchel will take over this summer.
Arsene Wenger is under contract until 2019.
