Ronaldinho endorses Barcelona’s move for Liverpool star Coutinho
Barcelona legend Ronaldinho has today revealed his opinion that Coutinho would fit right in with the Blaugrana, if he was to make the move from Liverpool.
Barca’s chase of Coutinho was one of the talking points of the summer transfer window, with Liverpool having rejected a number of big-money bids from the Catalans for their South American star.
Jurgen Klopp and co. remained adamant throughout the saga that Coutinho was not for sale at any price, with the attacking midfielder’s dream move to the Camp Nou failing to materialise by the close of the transfer window.
However, it is widely expected, in both England and Spain, that the Blaugrana will return for Liverpool’s star man in January, with a number of reports over recent weeks having suggested that the Reds may not stand in Coutinho’s way once again.
One man who certainly feels as though Barca would benefit from bringing Coutinho to Catalonia is club legend Ronaldinho.
Speaking in an interview today, the 37-year-old, who now acts as an ambassador for his former club, had the following to say regarding his fellow countryman:
‘Of course the decision is Coutinho’s but Barcelona would suit him.’
‘Talking about Philippe brings be a lot of happiness. He’s a player I admire. Seriously it brings me joy watching him.’
‘Barcelona doesn’t have any particular attraction for Brazilian players. But if he – or anyone – is to succeed there, they must play with passion. And they have to be happy.’
‘Then it’s just down to the player’s own imagination as to whether they succeed.’ (Quotes via the Mirror)
Barcelona returned to action following the international break with a comfortable 3-0 win over Leganes yesterday afternoon, with a trip to Juventus in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday night next up for Ernesto Valverde’s on-form outfit.
