Neymar blow confirmed by PSG
Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a huge blow as they finally received the report on Neymar Jr’s recent injury and how long he could be out for.
The club were hoping that he could be still able to shake off the injury quickly and have a chance of facing Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Though, judging by the statement that PSG have put out, it was never a cause of if he could play.
That is because the player is facing surgery after both PSG and the Brazilian national team agreed to send him for surgery.
Brazil will be hoping to have a fully fit Neymar ready for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and that has lead to early action on his injury.
That also means that he is likely to miss nearly all, if not all of the remainder of the season.
That could be huge for PSG and their hopes of progressing in the Champions League with them trailing 3-1 on aggregate to Real Madrid.
Speaking on his injury, Neymar’s father had no doubt that he wouldn’t be playing against Madrid.
“Of course he is out against Real Madrid. It is absurd if anybody thinks otherwise,” he told ESPN Brazil.
“At the end of April, Neymar will be able to play football.”
A club statement read:
“After an initial treatment period of three days inline with a strict medical protocol, a joint decision has been taken between the medical staffs of both Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team.
“In accordance with the player, it has been decided that Neymar Jr will undergo surgery in Brazil at the end of this week.
“He will be operated on by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, accompanied by Professor Saillant, representing PSG.”
