Marcus Rashford has lavished praise on former Barcelona and Real Madrid forward Ronaldo.

The Brazilian forward is known as one of the greatest players to ever grace a football field, and the Manchester United forward took the time to explain how he has tried to copy Ronaldo, and how his game has been affected by him in the best possible way.

Bad news for Real Madrid before the Atletico derby

The Express report Rashford said: “He always played free.

“No matter where he was playing, he played free and went out there and expressed himself. When you do that, that’s when you play your best football.

“You model yourself on him naturally. When you’re young you watch clips of the best players in the world and try and emulate them.

“I used to watch a lot of him growing up.

“All of his games. He was my brother’s favourite player, that’s why I’ve grown up watching so much of him.

“He was obviously a top player who won a lot of things in his career, so when you know he’s saying good things about you then it really stands out.

“He was also a top, top player.

“That sort of player is rare but Brazil had two of them. I bumped into Ronaldinho in the summer. He was in a Nike complex where we were doing some training and he had some commercial stuff to do. He’s a really nice guy and obviously had a fantastic career.”

One man who Rashford needs to impress is Jose Mourinho, who this season has given him a huge chance and often started him in games ahead of the likes of Anthony Martial.

Mourinho has spoken about the options he has up front, but seems to prefer putting his faith in Romelu Lukaku, despite his goal drought and takes the option of playing one of Martial or Rashford as a support.
