Manchester United sign Aliou Traore

Aliou Traore

Aliou TraorePremier League giants Manchester United have confirmed the signing of promising young midfielder Aliou Traore.

Gifted starlet

Traore, a French U17 international, departed PSG’s academy in August of last year, and had been plying his trade with amateur outfit Sarcelles in the meantime.

After being heavily linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs, including Juventus and Manchester City, Traore was invited on trial by Manchester United earlier this year, before joining the club’s U18 side on a pre-season training camp in Austria.

Reports spread back in July that he had been offered a 3-year contract at Old Trafford, though the official announcement of his signature actually only came yesterday.

‘Looking at for a while’

Traore made his debut for the Red Devils’ U18s during a clash with Wolves yesterday afternoon, with manager Kieran McKenna having revealed the following regarding the 16-year-old during an interview with MUTV:

‘Traore is a boy we’ve been looking at for a while.’

‘He is a really powerful midfielder who likes to run box to box. He is very strong technically and is improving all the time.’

‘He’s a nice man and his English is improving. He’s settling in well with the boys and has taken to the club really well.’

Road ahead

Next up for United is a top-of-the-table derby clash with Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend, as Jose Mourinho’s men look to close the gap on their fierce rivals to 5 points.
