Man United star will be banned after Southampton
Man United vs Southampton
Man United’s hopes of winning the Premier League seem long gone.
Perhaps the bigger question heading into 2018 is whether Man United can hold onto second place in the title race.
Indeed, will Jose Mourinho’s squad manage to survive a top four finish?
United suffered a major blow in the early stages against Southampton when Romelu Lukaku was stretchered off after a head injury.
Southampton also frustrated United for long periods. While David De Gea came to the rescue on more than one occasion.
Will Ashley Young be banned?
During the second half, Man United’s Ashley Young was involved in an ugly looking incident.
Young was marking Southampton’s Dusan Tadic in the Man United box.
While the action was going on elsewhere in the area, Young appeared to intentionally throw his elbow into Tadic’s gut.
Tadic, to his credit, didn’t make a meal of it. He stayed on his feet and carried on.
But will the FA take a look into the incident and apply retrospective punishment?
Many people watching the game believed Young needs to be banned as a result.
In the worst case scenario, Ashley Young could pick up a three game suspension.
That’s wha happened recently to Burnley defender James Tarkowski.
Man United’s next fixtures are against Everton, Derby County and Stoke.
