£43m rotation player
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been speaking today about £43million signing Bernardo Silva and why he remains an outcast.
The Portugal international was one of the best players in the Champions League for Monaco last year and that impressed several sides.
One those was Manchester City who made every attempt to sign the player in the summer window, signing him almost a month early.
It cost the club a huge £43million to prise him from the French champions and now the player has only managed a hand full of appearances.
The main reason for that is Pep Guardiola who continues to choose a plethora of other players in his position.
Unfortunately for Silva, that position is one of the strongest in the squad with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane the two main options.
Now, Pep Guardiola have moved to defend his purchase of Bernardo Silva.
“Leroy needed time to adapt a bit – to the way we play,” he explained.
“Bernardo doesn’t – he believes and is ready to play.
“It’s because I decide (that he doesn’t).
“My feeling is that he’s playing at a high level.
“Leroy was not confident at the start of last season, he didn’t believe how good he was.
“Bernardo is very good. It’s so difficult to leave him out.
“Bernardo is in the same situation as Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero. He’s able to play and has amazing quality and personality.
“He is not scared. It doesn’t matter where he plays.
“But other players are on top form.”
