David de Gea equals Premier League record

The remarkable Spanish keeper played a big hand, literally, in helping Manchester United to leave the Emirates with all three points.

In total, David de Gea pulled off 14 magnificent saves, equaling the Premier League held jointly by Vito Mannone and Tim Krul.

A brace from Jese Lingard and Antonio Valencia won United a vital three points, but ultimately, the 27-year-old was the real match winner.

Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United

The Gunners were unable to make 74 percent of the possession count, as an opportunistic Manchester United took full advantage of Arsenal’s defensive frailties.

Ultimately, Arsenal were the cause of their own downfall as lackadaisical defending costed them dearly.

United quickly marched into a two-goal lead after just 11 minutes courtesy of goals from Lingard and Valencia.

Arsene Wenger’s side, after a lot of trial and tribulation, finally found their way back into the game through Alexandre Lacazette, who netted just four minutes after the restart.

The goal came in vain, however, as Lingard netted his third goal in his last two appearances, to restore United’s two-goal advantage and see out the win.

Just before the end, Paul Pogba was shown red for a reckless challenge on Hector Bellerin, which will consequently see him miss Sunday’s Manchester derby.

Dave Saves

David De Gea’s heroics in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates landed the Spaniard in the Premier League record books.

The 27-year-old made 14 saves, placing him alongside Mannone of Sunderland and Krul of Newcastle, who managed the feat against Chelsea and Tottenham retrospectively.

Opta Stats further backed up de Gea’s remarkable performance by stating the stat:

4.01 – Arsenal against Man United produced the biggest difference between goals scored and expected goals since start of this season, when this metric was introudced.
