According to a report from Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

30-year-old Costa Rican international Navas has established himself as one of the finest keepers in world football during his 3-year stint with Real, leading to Los Blancos reportedly dropping their interest in long-time target David De Gea of Manchester United.

The former Levante star was labelled as ‘untouchable’ by the board at the Bernabeu during the summer, with his performances in helping the capital giants to back-to-back Champions League crowns having also endeared Navas to fans of the club.

PL interest

Nevertheless, as per the aforementioned report from Diario Gol, Arsenal and Liverpool are both considering offers for the South American, with both sides keen to upgrade their options between the posts.

The no.1 spot has long stood as an area of concern at Anfield, with both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius prone to high-profile mistakes (though the former has looked better this season).

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, is reportedly becoming frustrated with the showings of the aging Petr Cech.

The former Chelsea star came in for heavy criticism following his performance at Manchester City over the weekend, with sections of the Gunners faithful even calling for their 35-year-old shotstopper to be dropped for 2nd-choice David Ospina (though he is injured at the moment).

Staying put

However, it remains hugely unlikely that either side would be able to secure a deal for Navas, unless Real go all out for the signature of either David De Gea or Gianluigi Donnarumma.
